Spinal Decompression Therapy

The DRX9000 spinal decompression system is a 100% non-invasive treatment that utilizes computer technology to provide a gentle spinal decompressive stretch to a specific injured spinal segment. During treatment, disc pressure drops and there is diffusion of water, oxygen and nutrients to the injured spinal segment which are necessary for healing. The resultant decrease in disc pressure allows bulging/herniated discs to retract, heal and rehabilitate. Consistent with our inter-disciplinary approach to spinal care, the physicians often recommend a course of physical therapy to stabilize normal spinal disc pressure, increase core strengthening/flexibility and provide the patient with a comprehensive home management program. For more severe cases, patients may undergo a series of anti-inflammatory spinal injections prior to initiating spinal decompression therapy.
Not all patients are candidates for spinal decompression therapy. A comprehensive medical evaluation along with recent MRI and a bone density test (age dependent) are necessary to determine if spinal decompression is indicated.
